To become a certified driving instructor in Malaysia, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:

1. Malaysian citizen
2. IC certified by JPN (Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara)
3. Valid driving license certified by JPJ (Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan)
4. SPM certificate certified by Jabatan Pelajaran
5. Good driving record
6. Screenshot of MyBayarSaman (to verify no outstanding traffic fines)
7. Full medical check-up from a government clinic with receipts

The process involves the following steps:

1. Apply for SPIM (Sijil Pengajar Pendidikan Memandu) through the relevant administrative body.
2. The admin will create a MySikap account and prepare the necessary documents for JPJ.
3. Depending on the course academy, fees can vary between RM200 and RM300.
4. Undergo the training program, including both theory and practical tests.
5. After passing the tests, the admin will print your official result from the website.
6. Make a payment of RM15 for SPIM and RM5 for the runner fee.
7. The SPIM application can take around one month for processing.
8. Once you receive your SPIM, you can legally begin teaching as a freelancer.
